The sun, the beach and the cold (-5°C)
were present at the 2011 edition of the Le Touquet
Beach Race. The race, also known as the Quaduropale,
once again had a full starting grid with 500
racers from over 15 different countries, which
makes the Le Touqoet one of the largest ATV
beach races in the world.
On Friday, the riders gathered in the town's
center and underwent the technical control.
Decibels and registration papers are checked
before the ATV’s go to the ‘Park

One of the new features in 2011, was the direction
of the track. In contrast with previous editions,
the race was now ridden in the other direction.
By doing so, the organizer wanted to eliminate
the dangers of the long straight section in
the first lap. Another new feature of the track
were the higher number of jumps, making it more
challenging for the riders and there fitness.
On Saturday, the race started with finding
the best place in the pits. The new set up of
the pit lane created a strip that each racer
was forced to take, which eliminated any possibility
for a shortcut. Furthermore, instead of one
pit stop, all racers were obligated to make
3 pit stops during the race.

As the clock struck 1 P.M. the rope was cut in
half, the first 50 riders took off. They were
soon followed by the rest of the pack for the
3 hour long race. It was Nikky Vaes (W-Tec/Planet
Quad) that took the lead after the first corner.
Vaes would stay in the top 10, but had to stop
with technical difficulties.
The lead was soon a battle between Jeremie
Warnia and Romain Couprie (Yamaha/Audemar).
The two Frenchmen followed each other during
that first crucial lap. Behind the two, Paul
Holmes (KTM/Motoland), Jan Vlaeymans, Matthieu
Ternynck and Joe Maessen followed closely. The
young Frenchmen Keveen Rochereau stuck with
the head of the back and nested himself in the
