2017 Can-Am King of
the Hammers UTV Race Report
::Continued::
“We fought it all day,” said Miller. “We had
fuel issues at the start of the second lap. The
car kept cutting off in the desert around the
corners. Coming down the first ledge into Back
Door the car stalled right on it’s nose, so Scotty
had to jump out and push the thing down. I got
it re-fired and got going again. We’re going to
look at doing a turbo next year because they just
dominate in the desert. Just finishing this race
is a feat in itself.”

Can-Am's
Casey Currie finished 5th in the Can-Am
Maverick X3
|
Jason Weller finished eighth in a Yamaha. For
his efforts in recording the highest finishing
spot for a Yamaha, he earned a $5,000 bonus as
part of the BluCru contingency program.

Weller Racing's
Jason Weller finished 8th Overall in the
Yamaha YXZ 1000R
|
“The major rock sections weren’t too bad, but
the Back Door section was tough,” said Weller
of the drop off section that played havoc during
the race. “We rolled it on the first time through
and we managed to not roll it on the second lap.
It was a brutal race. Yamaha stepped up and gave
us $5,000. I look forward to this. We race all
year long, but this race is something I always
set my sights on.”

Another notable finish was the “Teryx Girls”
Sara Price and Erica Sacks finishing 18th Overall
in the Kawasaki Teryx 800 as the only all women
team, which is an impressive accomplishment considering
they were up against Turbos and 1000cc m vehicles.
