Dustin Nelson's winning streak continues
at Rynoland with 3 straight combined Quadcross
& WORCS Pro ATV Race Wins |
Yamaha/Golden West Cycles’ Dustin Nelson
went 1-1 at round three of the 2010 ITP Quadcross
series to take the overall Pro ATV Production
win, with MCR/Maxxis' Beau Baron, and Yamaha’s
Justin Noss joining him on the podium, while Yamaha/Golden
West Cycles’ Jason Dunkelberger would claim
the Open Pro win.
Wind and dusty conditions were prevalent at Rynoland,
a newer track located in the rural community of
Anza, CA about 35 miles east of Temecula. The
facility is owned and operated by former pro racer,
Ryan Hughes and has supercross, motocross, and
off road style tracks to suit almost anyone’s
needs.
After coming off of a set of impressive wins
at round four of WORCS and round two of the ITP
Quadcross series’, Yamaha’s Dustin
Nelson seemed poised, confident, and ready to
claim another victory. Nelson came off the line
in about sixth place in the first Pro Production
moto, but quickly made his way through traffic,
taking over the number two position by the end
of the second lap. From there he proceeded to
chase down MCR/Maxxis’ Beau Baron, who was
holding down the lead.

front in Moto One passing #549 Beau Baron
for the lead |
After a bit of a battle, Nelson was able to make
his way around Baron and gain some distance, but
a trip over the berm three laps from the finish
almost cost him his lead “I made a mistake
and went over the berm, but I got lucky and was
able to bring it back in, right in front of Beau,
and hold him off for the final couple of laps
to take the win,” said Nelson, with a sigh
of relief.
Moto two was a bit more to Nelson’s liking
as he took second in the holeshot behind Justin
Noss and made the pass for the lead in the first
lap. Nelson would put a nice gap between him and
the competition before crossing the finish line
to take the moto two win and the overall. “I’m
really glad that things are coming together for
me after we had some bad luck earlier this year.
Now I’m feeling confident for the rest of
the season,” said Nelson, who also plans
on racing at Nationals at the Steel City round
on Memorial Day weekend.

Maxxxis' Beau Baron edges out #97 CT Racing's
Justin Noss for the Moto One holeshot followed
by Golden West Cycle's Jason Dunkelberger |
Although Dustin Nelson took the moto one win,
it was MCR/Maxxis’ Beau Baron who would
grab the holeshot. Baron was under pressure from
Yamaha’s Justin Noss, Reed Petchnick and
Jason Dunkelberger, but he would hold strong until
Dustin Nelson would make a charge from the back.
Baron and Nelson would battle for about a lap
before Nelson would get past leaving Baron to
settle for a second place finish.
