High Lifter ATV Mud Nationals 2011

2013 High Lifter ATV / UTV Mud Nationals Report
::Continued::

Having a major manufacturer on hand at an event like this is always exciting and both Yamaha and Can-Am make it a point to be in attendance each year. Can-Am brought out many of its newest machines for anyone to try out.

The all new 2013 Can-Am Maverick 1000 SxS / UTV was one of the most popular Can-Am vehicles to demo
The demo course was laid out on the hillside just down from the entrance gate and many with drivers license in hand ventured out to see what the buzz was all about.

From the Outlander to the Renegade and even the Commander or the Maverick there was a choice for any one interested in trying the machines. Can-Am also set up lunch for their loyal product owners for two days during the event. Yamaha was on hand as well providing repairs for any Yamaha branded equipment. It was great seeing these two companies give back to their consumers.

Can-Am Outlader Utility ATV - Massimo Obstacle Course
Racers had to maneuver over huge log piles, the tire graveyard, mud bog, a buried camper & 2 cars to complete the Massimo Obstacle Course

Thursday also brought a brand new contest and this one was really fun. The Massimo obstacle course consisted of huge log piles, a tire graveyard, twin mounds of dirt, a mud bog, buried camper and two cars. You then made your way over the single buried power pole and through a huge tunnel to the twin whoops finish the route. This had to be the funniest event I have seen as SXSs, ATVs and a single Three-wheeler made the timed event exciting.

One three wheeler rider entertained spectators as he made his way through the Massimo Obstacle Course

The three wheeler got the biggest reaction from the crowd as this comical rider had fun with his opportunity to ride in front of hundreds of his biggest fans. Kyle Forsythe took the last run at the course and on his exit over the cars buried in the dirt he launched the Polaris RZR skyward clearing the cars. This got the crowds on their feet. Brian Bowden was able to clock the fastest time around the course and for that he took first place.

This year HMF presented the 2013 HMF ATV & SxS Endurance Challenge

Racing took its place on Friday morning and the traditional run down the high line made many racers cold, wet and very muddy. The HMF endurance challenge runs the length of the highline and back with two man or woman teams. The two partners have to ride one quad or UTV and come back together on it.

You can also run two ATVs with one rider each as a team but both of you have to come back across the finish line on at least one of the machines. Dakota Klein and his Gorilla Axle teammate John Ferranti rocked the fastest time but were only just over a minute ahead of their second place teammates Mark Wise and Seth Russell.
