2009 East
Coast High Lifter ATV Mud Nationals
::Continued::
The High Lifter Mud Nationals events are perhaps
one of the few times when kids are not only allowed,
but encouraged to go out and get as dirty as they
please without any fear of repercussions. In fact,
High Lifter had a special pit set up for the youngest
mud enthusiasts to join in the racing fun. The
kids were all smiles as they took to pit, and
Rickey Wood was no exception, as he went on to
take the PeeWee class win. Creek Bottom Racing’s
Justin Drawhorn would take the win in the Junior
class, followed by Jarrott Summerall in second
and Trevor Williamson in third.

Once all of the racing was over and participants
had a chance to hose off their machines and themselves,
it was time for the Bomb Squad freestyle team, featuring
brothers Caleb and Colton Moore, to take center
stage. The riders laid down a slew of tricks, but
one of the most memorable was a tandem backflip
performed by Caleb and Colton Moore. Another highlight
of the freestyle show was when Caleb Moore came
out in his Polaris RZR and took one lucky member
of the audience aboard and went soaring off of a
30 foot jump. The audience response was so overwhelming
that Moore decided he would go for it again, much
to the delight of the crowd.

After the freestyle show wrapped up, it was time
for the awards ceremony where over a total of $17,500.00
in cash and prizes was given out. “This was
our first event on the East Coast and it was very
successful. We had a lot of positive feedback so
we will definitely be planning another High Lifter
Mud National on the east coast,” stated High
Lifter Event Coordinator, Traci Engi.
On Sunday, the park allowed open riding for everyone
to enjoy. ATV’s and RUV’s were plentiful
as some decided to head back to the mud, while
others chose to casually cruise the miles of trails
the Creek Bottom system has to offer and wind
down from all of the weekend’s excitement
before heading home.
The first-ever High Lifter East Coast Mud National
was a well put together event, just like all of
High Lifter’s Mud Nationals, and with the
same success on the east coast as in the mid west,
this welcomed addition to the series should be
even bigger and better next time around.
