GBC Heartland Challenge
Pro 4x4 ATV Race Report
::Continued::
Cody Miller was trying to do the double here.
After winning the Heartland Challenge SXS race
the day before, he set out to try to win the 4X4
Pro ATV race. Unfortunately, the belt problem
slowed his teams charge and he settled for second.

Cecco Racing's Cody Miller may not have
claimed the win, but he was still ready
to celebrate after claiming his overall
SxS Win the night before in his Can-Am Maverick |
“We had one mechanical issue all day and it ended
up costing us,” said Miller. “It took us from
the lead to down by a couple of minutes. We tried
to make it back, but the UXC team ran strong.
I can’t complain because I won last night and
finished second tonight. Bryan Buckhannon and
Rick Cecco ran strong. We had a great weekend.
The Heartland Challenge is one of the most fun
races we go to. Can-Am gave us a great machine
in it ran strong the whole time. Mechanical issues
happen, but to just have only one is a statement
to how great our equipment is. Just to be on the
podium is a feat considering how hard charging
everyone is here.”

Cody Miller started the race for Team Cecco
& held the lead over UXC Racing's Michael
Swift early in the race |
Bryan Buckhannon was on the bike when the belt
started to slip just after the GBC Challenge section.
He limped back to the pits and quickly got on
one of the other bikes, but the lost time cost
them the win.

Time Pro 4x4 GNCC Champion, Bryan Buckhannon,
just finished going through the GBC Challenge
section when the belt started slipping,
which forced him back to pits, which dropped
the team out of the lead |
“We went up early and had a belt go out and take
the win from us,” said Buckhannon. “Somehow I
made it all the way back and the belt didn’t blow.
It was limping back. We were fortunate to get
it back, get on the other quad and finish.”
Rick Cecco was in awe of his teammate’s performance.
Though never content to finish second, given the
circumstances, he was happy with the podium.

Leader, Rick Cecco, only races select events
these days after a very successful ATV racing
career that goes back into the late 90's |
“What a blessing it was because Bryan and Cody
put on one hell of a race today,” said Cecco.
“Those guys went out there for two-plus hours
and burned some amazing and consistent laps. I
definitely wasn’t up to par on it. I did some
hour runs, but these guys have really taken it
to the next level. I’m proud to be a part of the
team. The machine worked really well.”
