#3 GT Thunder Team (Brian Wolf, Donnie Ockerman,
Brandon Sommers) wait in line at tech inspection |
The GT Thunder team of Donnie Ockerman, Brian Wolf,
and Brandon Sommers was in a close second off the
start as they began the grueling race with Ockerman
at the wheel. The GT thunder team appeared unstoppable
and took over the lead for seven laps from lap eleven
to lap eighteen before they would fall back.
The team appeared to be running just as fast
of lap times as the Ballance team, but their strategy
of changing machines every time they changed riders
seemed to slow them down a bit as they had to
wait approximately 30 seconds for the impound
release every time. The GT Thunder team also completed
40 laps, but their time of 10:07:39 would put
them in a solid second place in the Pro class
and overall.

Team EXIT, featuring Jarrod McClure and Jeff
Pickens, who are veterans of this event, looked
strong as McClure would start things out for the
team. McClure was looking good as he took over
the lead briefly, but would run into mechanical
issues and have to wait to be towed off the track,
costing the team precious time , and a couple
of laps.

EXIT's Jarrod McClure took over the lead
in lap 14, but just as soon as he grabbed
the lead, the smoking Polaris came to a
stop near the end of the lap, which left
them sidelined for 20 minutes

Jeff
Picken's Yamaha YFZ450X ran flawlessly for
the remainder of the race, but the they
were out of the running for the win &
finished 3rd place in the class & 6th
Overall |
The EXIT Team would end their day in third place
in their class with a total of 37 laps completed,
putting them in sixth overall.
