David Plavi Takes GNCC Mountaineer
Run XC2 SxS Win
::Continued::
In the GNCC XC2 Pro Sport class, David Plavi
clinched his first win of the season. Plavi grabbed
the holeshot but fell back to second briefly.
Plavi was able to regain the lead, both physically
and in time, and held his lead all the way to
the checkered flag. Plavi is now only three points
behind the leader, Joe Krcelich. “I was on the
first row for the start. I got the holeshot and
caught up to the XC1 guys pretty quick. Joe Krcelich
got around me early in the first lap, but I was
able to get him back, and I just stayed out front.
It was huge to get my first GNCC win, and I knew
if I just ran a smart race and had a little luck,
I knew we could do it,” said Plavi.

Points leader Joe Krcelich was second off the
start and was able to make the pass on David Plavi,
but eventually fell back into second. Krcelich
stayed fast and smooth despite the rough conditions
and lap traffic and finished in second place,
which gives him a three point advantage. “I had
a good race and was able to have a smooth race.
I still have a three point lead over David Plavi
and I am happy about that. Our car is pretty much
bullet proof right now, and I can’t wait until
the next round. We are just going to keep trying
to finish on the podium and hopefully end up with
a championship,” said Krcelich.

In the Polaris Ace class, it may have been Doug
Fortner, Marc Spataro and Sam Yokley, who went
one, two and three at the finish line, but all
eyes were on Jesi Stracham as she made her return
to the GNCC in a specially equipped Polaris Ace,
put together by Racer Tech, UTV Scene, and William
Yokley.

Doug Fortner
claimed the Single Seat Win & he has
finished on the podium at all three rounds

This was Stracham’s first race at the GNCC since
she was paralyzed and she was overwhelmed by the
support she received. “It was a lot of fun. There
are no words to describe the feeling of being
out there again. Racer Tech put every effort into
the project and the first time I talked to Andy,
he said ‘Welcome to the Racer Tech family” and
that’s exactly what it is. They are all like family
now. It was exhilarating to be back out there
on the GNCC course and doing what I love. I grew
up racing and for the first time since my accident
I actually felt normal,” said Stracham, who finished
in a very respectable fifth place.
