Chris Borich grabbed the initial lead by earning his first Team Woodhead / DeRisi Racing Holeshot Award.  Borich lost the lead midway through the first lap and fell in a quick pace behind fellow Suzuki racer Chris Bithell. Borich and Bithell rode nose to tail for much of the five lap race.

The pair had quite an exciting battle as they came in so close on lap four that the lap times show Borich in first and Bithell in second with no time in between; interestingly, Bithell came out of scoring in first on that lap, but the two were so close their transponders scanned at the same time.

“It seems like we were just out on the trail ripping. We were rolling well because we train together. It was definitely a good time and congrats to Bithell as well,” regarded Borich of his wheel to wheel battle with Chris Bithell.
