Round 1 - "River
Ranch " |

|
River Ranch, FL - After five
month break over the winter, the 2010 Can-Am
GNCC ATV Racing Series kicked off this past
weekend with the River Ranch GNCC in Florida,
and it was obvious who spent most of the winter
watching it snow, and who headed south to train
where the grass was still exposed.
#1
Chris Borich - Suzuki LTR-450 ATV |
|
#1
Chris Borich has been working hard over
the winter & it showed in Florida
with his Win |
Suzuki’s Chris Borich picked up where
he left off by claiming his ninth straight XC1
Pro ATV win. The race would not see Borich take
the lead until late on the last lap after shadowing
the race leader, finally making a pass at one
of the many mud holes. Once in the lead, Borich
would set the pace and race to the checkered
flag unchallenged. This win marks Borich’s
start at defending his championship aboard his
Suzuki LTR 450.
The biggest change facing the champion would
come in the off season when he found out he
would not be receiving the support he had enjoyed
in 2009 from Suzuki. Thankfully, major support
from DWT will help offset the drop. With the
off season almost non existent, there was very
little time to make big changes in the racing
program, so we would see Borich once again aboard
his Suzuki, although support from Suzuki since
has been ramped up enough for them to be fully
acknowledged from the podium.

#1
Chris Borich rode smart & smoth the
entire race in Florida and didn't fight
for the lead till the final lap when it
counted the most for the win |
For Borich, this season will allow him to make
his own way, out of the shadow of being number
two for so long. With a racing program that is
solid, it is solely in the young racers hands
as to where this season leads. Standing at the
top of the ladder leaves a huge mark for others
to follow but the confidence level is extremely
high for not just Chris, but from his team as
well. He will be hard to beat this year as the
mechanical aspect of his program is now proven
and his competition acknowledges his skill level
will be tough to overcome. The once out of control
upstart now sits at the forefront of the elite
and shows all the signs he is indeed ready to
lead.
#2
Taylor Kiser - Yamaha YFZ450X ATV |
Following Borich across the finish line would
be none other then Florida’s own, Taylor
Kiser. The number 2 plate sits firmly on his
Yamaha as he prepares for his run at the championship
in 2010. Kiser is always a favorite to do well
on his home turf and has honed his skills to
be a threat at any round. Kiser would run strong
during the two hour event and would find himself
in a position to claim a podium finish late
in the race. When the checkered flag came out,
Kiser would indeed find himself on the box with
the #2 position securely his.

After a success season in 2009, Taylor
Kiser was picked up by factory Yamaha
for 2010 with the Ballance Racing Team,
so he made the switch to the YFZ450X for
2010, and he appeared right at home on
Yamaha's new flag ship ATV claiming the
2nd spot in Florida hot on the heels on
