Gainesville, FL (3/5/2012) –
Round number twelve of the Florida Trail Riders
hare scramble series was held this weekend at
Gatorback Cycle Park, where Mona-Vie’s Cody
Ellison claimed an easy win over the competition
in the AA class, while GNCC Women’s A class
racer, Angel Atwell, finished a solid 4th place
in the A class.
The FTR series is one of the best known off-road
series’ in Florida for ATV Hare Scramble
racing. It always has good attendance and is
a favorite among GNCC Pro ATV racers who train
in Florida during the winter months. Chris Borich,
Johnny Gallagher, Adam McGill, Taylor Kiser,
Jarrod McClure, Walker Fowler, and Chris Bithell
are among the many pros that raced at several
events this year in preparation for the start
of the 2012 Can-Am GNCC Racing season.
To our surprise, with the GNCC season opener
just one week away, only Precision Stabilizer’s
#2 Adam McGill made the trip to the Gatorback
FTR race while the rest of the Pros opted out
of racing this weekend to focus on making final
preparations for the start of the GNCC series.

GNCC XC1 Pro ATV Class Racer, Adam
McGill, was one of the few GNCC racers
that competed in round 12 of FTR Racing
Series. McGill was racing aboard his Precision
Stabilizers / Moto-Xperts powered Honda
450R ATV which he will be racing in the
2012 GNCC ATV Racing Series |
Gatorback, the hosting facility for round twelve
of the fifteen round FTR series, is a well-known
track in Florida that used to host the AMA ATV
Motocross Championships as well at the ATV Olympics,
and it well known for its motocross track, which
features an abundance of jumps with plenty of
elevation changes to make it very interesting.
Also, several miles of off-road woods sections
was added to make the track roughly five miles
long.
The weather for this round was fairly decent
with temps soaring into the upper 80’s
before a cold front approached from the west,
which brought along some rain showers before
the start of the race. Luckily, the heavy rain
held off till well after dark.

AA and A Quad Classes start together
on the same line in the FTR Racing Sereies
making the holeshot interesting |
In the Florida Trail Riders series, the AA
and A quad classes start together on the front
row, so a good start is necessary to avoid slower
traffic. Yamaha YFZ450X mounted #332A Michael
Relyea grabbed the Holeshot, but it didn’t
take long for Precision / Lonestar / Moto Xperts’
#2AA Adam McGill to charge his way into the
lead. Unfortunately for McGill, his stator went
out and he would be towed back to the pits,
ending his day early.
