2013 AMA Racing ATV Extreme Dirt Track Nationals Round #5 - Goldsboro, NC Busco Beach July 14, 2013

Goldsboro, NC (7/20/2013) - The Extreme Dirt Track ATV nationals headed to the southern state of North Carolina for the fifth round of the 2013 series which was held at the massive 1,800 acre facility that is known as Busco Beach. The Beach played host to this round and also had a fight on its hands as tropical rain showers were bounding the Eastern seaboard the entire week prior.

With heavy rain during the week & into the weekend, Extreme Dirt Track Round 5 at Busco Beach was delayed until the rain clouds moved out of the area on Sunday

Rain ended up canceling Friday’s scheduled practice sessions as the track workers and racers alike tried to get the track to mellow out by rolling it with their ATV’s to no avail. Saturday was next up on the board but yet again, rain had bigger plans for the racers as  the skies continued to open up and not let any action happen, pushing the race into Sunday which was a last ditch effort to try and get the race in the books. Thankfully the weather was beautiful as could be on Sunday and with blue skies waiting, the first set of racers took to the line after an early morning practice session.

In the Pro ATV main event, #27 Brad Riley proved he was the man to beat as the North Carolina native put his Two Se7en Motorsports Honda 450R ATV to the front of the pack immediately to take the holeshot and never look back.

Riley was chased heavily by the rest of pack which was being lead by #038 Michael Coburn. Unfortunately for the rest of the 20-racer pack, Riley was on a mission for a win and he did just that!

“We got off to a pretty sketchy start off the first holeshot and then after the restart my DASA engine and Maxxis tires ripped me off the line really hard to take the holeshot and  I was able to hold onto the lead ‘til the end. We shook up the points a bunch and we’re happy with it so far!” said Riley.

#038 Michael Coburn, coming off a very strong showing in his home state, was ready for some more action at round 5 and came away with a second place finish in the Pro class. Coburn hammered down aboard his Walsh / PEP Honda 450R and came off the line just behind Riley and remained here for the entire race. Coburn ran a smooth and fast race to keep his nose clean and not get passed or make any mistakes.
