Sioux Falls, SD - It was another
win for Honda East Toledo’s Harold Goodman
in Pro class at round number four of the 2012 Extreme
Dirt Track series while hometown favorite, Michael
Coburn took top honors in the Pro-am class and Brad
Riley topped the box in the Pro-am Unlimited class.

                                          | | | Track conditions were still excellent for round
number four, the second race in the double header
weekend in South Dakota. The weather was warm
once again, but the track was well watered and
offered up some great racing for round four. In the Pro class, Harold Goodman grabbed the
holeshot and was leading, but shortly into the
main, Michael Coburn made the pass for the lead.

#708 Harold Goodman once again grabbed
the Pro holeshot with #53 Kirby Cooke
in chase | “I stayed with him, but Michael was running
really well and I closed in a couple of times,
but I couldn’t get around him. It was really
close the entire time and it was pretty exciting,”
said Goodman. Although Goodman physically finished
in second place, due to a bit of controversy,
he was awarded the overall win for the day.

again battled with Coburn making the Goodman
                                        to take the lead |
Brad Riley was looking strong for round four
and charged off the start. Riley worked his way
into the number three spot and was closing in
on the leaders. “I was closing in but I
ran out of time before I could really get close
enough to do anything, said Riley, who would ultimately
                                be awarded second place.

Brad Riley was on the move in the Pro Main
as he charged his way through the pack and
into the 3rd spot | DASA Racing’s Michael Coburn was in the
top five off the start for the Pro main event,
but as racers came into a sharp turn early in
the first lap, things did not go according to
plan. “I was in fourth off the start and
we all came into this turn and Kirby Cooke and
one other guy were in front of me and getting
a little crossed up. I was afraid I was going
to hit them and I couldn’t go on the outside
because there were people there and I would have
hit them, so I cut underneath. Unfortunately when
I did that, I cut a corner,” explained Coburn.

Coburn crossed the finish line with the
win, but he was docked two spots for making
a pass on Kirby Cooke & another racer
early in the race by going inside the
tires, but Kirby Cooke is also facing
suspension for blocking Coburn later in
the race | Coburn would then go on to work his way to the
front with the pass on Goodman for the lead, which
Coburn held to the finish line, but Coburn was
penalized two positions for driving inside the
tire, giving him third overall. “The penalty
was fair because I did gain two positions when
I did that, but at the time, I felt like it was
the only safe move I could make and not end up
hitting anyone and getting hurt or hurting them,”
said Coburn. Nathan Wolff and Chuckie Creech battled it out,
but Nathan Wolff was looking strong in the Pro
class as he was able to hold off Chuckie Creech
and claim a solid fourth place finish, with Creech
rounding out the top five. Daryl Rath held on to finish in sixth place in
the Pro class, with Michael Houghton finishing
in seventh. Daniel Chepkauskas hung on for an
eighth place finish with Colter Loshbaugh claiming
ninth and Damon Brown rounding out the top ten. |
