Sioux Falls, SD - Round three of the 2012 Extreme Dirt Track Series was a good round for pro points leader Harold Goodman as he topped the podium in the Pro class, while hometown favorite Michael Coburn grabbed the win in both the Pro-am and Pro-am Unlimited classes.

The Sioux Valley Cycle Club played host to this weekend’s events and many said that this was the best round of the season so far as the track was set up well and kept well groomed and watered. The staff was attentive and went above and beyond for this event. The track offered some split lanes that were smooth and even, which allowed for some very competitive racing. The addition of good weather made the weekend very enjoyable for all.

For Houser Racing’s Harold Goodman, it was a tough decision to come out and race because unfortunately for him, this race conflicted with the AMA ATV Motocross Championships. “I didn’t really decide until last week and since I am in the points lead here, I decided to do the EDT series and try to extend my lead,” said Goodman, who did just that.

PRO ATV MAIN RACE REPORT

Goodman grabbed the holeshot and won his heat race in the pro class, which put him on the front row for the start of the main. The main event went much the same as his heat race. “I got the holeshot and led from start to finish. Michael Coburn started to close in on me, but he never got a chance to make a pass, so I was able to take the win,” said Goodman.

Dasa Racing’s Michael Coburn, who also won his heat race, quickly made his way into second place behind Goodman. Coburn used the split lanes and closed in on Goodman a couple of times, but was unable to get close enough to make a pass and settled in for second.

Kirby Cooke was looking solid as he charged off the start and held off a charging Chuckie Creech to take a third place finish.

Chuckie Creech, who took second in his heat race, was also looking strong. Creech challenged Cooke, but was unable to make a clean pass and would have to settle for a fourth place finish. “It was a really nice facility and the track was great. They had good option lanes and it was a lot of fun,” said Creech.

Dustin Hoffman put in a consistent run and rounded out the top five in the pro class.

Brad Riley had a tough day in the pro class. While Riley was heating up his tires, he accidentally crossed the line and was sent back to start on the penalty row. Riley, who is known for his passing abilities, put his skills to use and made his way up to the number six spot.

Michael Houghton held on for a seventh place finish ahead of Daryl Rath, who claimed eighth. Nathan Wolff finished in ninth place and Daniel Chepkauskas rounded out the top ten in the pro class.
