Sikeston, MO - Michael Coburn laid
down some incredibly fast laps to take double wins
in both the Pro and Pro Lites classes at round number
two of the 2010 Extreme Dirt Track series, while
Brad Riley would follow in a close second place.
Sikeston Race Park in Sikeston, MO was the hosting
facility for round two of the 2010 Extreme Dirt
Track series, where beautiful weather was on tap
for the day’s events. The track provided
lap times averaging around 38 seconds for the
pro class.

Round 2 of
the Extreme Dirt Track Series was hosted
at Sikeston Race Park as a last minute
change to the schedule, and it proved
to be a challenging track

Sparks Racing's #038 Michael Coburn was
back ontop of his game at Round 2 claiming
both the Pro & Pro Lites Class Wins |
In the Pro main event, Brad Riley and Brandon
Sullenger got tangled in the first turn, causing
officials to red flag the race and forcing Riley
to a second row start. In the second start, it
was Mike Mahan who would grab the holeshot, but
he had plenty of company with Michael Coburn hot
on his heels. By the third lap, Coburn was tired
of following and made his move for the lead, and
once out front, he began to pull away to take
the Pro Win.
Brad Riley recovered nicely from his second row
start and battled with Brian Ace and Mike Mahan
before he would take over second place, where
he would stay all the way to the checkered flag.
“It was kind of a tough day for me as far
as starts go, but I was able to make the best
of it. As soon as I got by Brain (Ace), I could
have caught Michael Coburn, but I just didn’t
have enough time to close in on him,” said
Riley.
A fierce battle began to brew for third place
between Brian Ace and rookie pro Mike Mahan. The
pair were tire to tire and Ace tried to utilize
the option lane and make a pass on Mahan, but
Mahan was not about to let him by and held on
to take a third place finish and a spot on the
podium. After getting shut out by Mahan, Ace would
be forced to settle for a fourth place finish,
which would be a career best for him as well.

#21/ Mike
Mahan was just another new face in the
Pro Class at Round 1, but in Round 2 he
showed that he meant business by claiming
a spot on the Podium in only his 2nd race
of the season

Hellbound's
#338 Brian Ace is making his return to
fulltime racing in 2010 after taking a
step away over the past 2 years, but the
time away must have helped because he
scored a career best 4th place

Can-Am mounted Chuckie Creech looked solid and
would hold down the number five spot from start
to finish, while Jay Rehagen, despite challenging
Michael Coburn for the lead in the heat race,
would fall back from fourth to settle into a sixth
place finish. Danny McGraw would hang on for seventh
in the Pro main and Kirby Cooke would claim an
eighth place finish. Kristopher Bures held on
for ninth place, and Brandon Sullenger would round
out the top ten. Frank Batista would encounter
some bad luck just a few laps in and have to be
towed off the track.
