Oil City, PA -While most people
were gathered at barbeques and watching fireworks
displays on the 4th of July, Harold Goodman, Chuckie
Creech, and Heather Byrd were busy securing wins
in the Pro and Pro-am classes of round four of the
Extreme Dirt Track series. KTM’s Tim Farr
also came out to race his first EDT event of the
season, while Can-Am’s Sage Baker made his
TT debut.

Heavy rain
on July 3rd dashed any hopes of practice,
but the skies cleared by sunset, so many
racers headed to Oil City for the fireworks
display over the river
|
As the rain fell on Thursday, Tri City Speedway
officials were forced to cancel practice, however,
the weather decided to cooperate for Independence
Day and workers were able to prep the track in
time to add a practice session before all the
racing action was to begin.

Tri City
Raceway attracted several top EDT ATV
racers from the past to make their 2008
season debut with Daryl Rath (left) making
his debut on the Polaris Outlaw, but unfortunately,
mechanical issues during practice kept
him from racing. KTM's Tim Farr (right)
also signed up for the Pro-Am Unlimited
class, and left Friday night to head to
the GNCC to race in a Polaris RZR with
his wife Julie on Saturday

In the Pro ranks, Michael Coburn, Chuckie Creech
and Brad Riley all came away with the win in their
heat races, but in the Pro main event, it was
defending EDT Pro champion Harold Goodman that
would dominate. Goodman grabbed the holeshot,
followed by Chuckie Creech, Michael Coburn and
Mitch Reynolds. “I got 4th in the gate pick,
so I had a pretty good line off the start. I took
the holeshot and just pulled away to a comfortable
lead,” said Harold.

Can-Am/Epic Racing’s Sage Baker came out
to try his hand for the first time at Extreme
Dirttrack this weekend. “It’s totally
different than motocross!” said Sage. “I
didn’t have my bike set up as much as these
guys who race this all the time and they would
pull on me in the straights, but it was pretty
fun. I had a good time,” he concluded.
Even though Sage’s set up made it tough
to keep up with the likes of Harold Goodman, Chuckie
Creech was right up there with the number 708
Honda at the start, but Creech ran into issues
mid race. “I had a defective tire. As I
was racing, the tread started coming off and that
had a huge effect on my performance,” said
Creech disappointedly.

Epic Can-Am
Racing's Sage Baker decided at the last
minute to race his first ever TT event,
and with some help from friends he made
his TT debut with a 12th place finish

Aron Reisig
