Harold Goodman extends his Pro Points lead
to 21 points with his win at Birch Creek |
Danville, VA - Birch Creek played
host to round 3 of the Extreme Dirttrack Nationals
where Mother Nature once again played a key roll
in the weekend’s events with a wash out Saturday
night, but what a difference a day can make. Perfect
conditions greeted racers on Sunday afternoon where
Honda’s Harold Goodman showed why he is the
current Extreme Dirt Track Pro ATV champion, claiming
the Holeshot and the win in both the Pro and Pro
Lites classes.
Rain swept through Birch Creek on Saturday forcing
the delay of round three of the Extreme Dirttrack
Series. As the rain fell and track conditions
deteriorated, track officials decided to postpone
the racing until Sunday, leaving many racers wondering
if there would be any racing at all. Luckily,
conditions improved overnight and with a little
hard work, the track was in perfect condition
by noon Sunday when the local church service let
out, which meant a green light for the racing
to get underway. .

After a great
day on racing on Saturday, the rain moved
in around 5pm during Pro practice, which
ended racing on Saturday with it resuming
on Sunday Afternoon
|
As the Pro class left the starting line, it was
Harold Goodman who grabbed the Holeshot, followed
by Michael Coburn, Brandon Hill, Kirby Cooke, Zac
Willet and Brad Riley. Goodman immediately began
to pull away as did Coburn, but the action was just
beginning to heat up for Riley, who had no intensions
of staying in 6th place. Riley began working his
way through traffic and picking off the competition
one at a time.

#137 Mitch Reynolds cruises around the track
to salvage some points |
While many were battling for position, Mitch Reynolds,
who is currently number two in the points race,
was at the back of the pack. “I crashed during
MX Nationals last week and injured my shoulder,
so I was just taking it easy and trying to save
points,” said Reynolds who races the Pro-am
Production class on the MX side. “I should
be back to 100% by next week,” he concluded
confidently. Reynolds salvaged 5 points in the Pro
Class, and he is currently ranked 4th in Points
and 32 points out of first place.
