Winnsboro, SC - Mud, it’s
something that ATV’s are drawn too and have
been since the first three wheeler touched dirt.
Sometimes it is a mud puddle, sometimes just a wet
patch in a bottom and sometimes it is a man made
pit designed for all out competition! Now that’s
quite a bit of distance from a trike in a wet ditch
but that is exactly how far the sport of mud racing
has progressed.

Championship Mud Racing Series |
Mud racing you ask? People actually have organized
racing in the mud? They sure do and it is a growing
segment of a culture stepped deep in our sports
history however today’s mud racers are equipped
with machines specifically designed for this type
of racing and entire companies are growing up
specializing in parts and products to help those
interested be as competitive as possible.

The ITP Championship Mud Racing Series Presented
by Can-am started in 2008 and has embarked on a
full schedule of events that keep those in the South
with plenty of chances to get dirty. Sponsors started
flocking to the series and its growth continued
through 2009, culminating in the 2010 season as
bigger names grace the racing venues with the likes
of ITP Tires, Can Am, Arctic Cat , Gorilla Axle
and more all seeking to promote themselves to the
series ATV, UTV racers and spectators.

The CMR series runs through many of the southern
states and as far north as South Carolina drawing
in new participants at each round. To say the series
is a success is not giving those running the series
enough credit. They faced an uphill challenge creating
a national series design solely around mud racing,
something that had not been done before. Successful
they, were and today’s events rival most any
event you may attend albeit on a smaller scale and
centered on a daunting pit of mud! Starting side
by side, the racers would have to complete laps
around an island in a pit of water and mud specifically
created for the event.
