Alamo, NV (5/8/2015) - ITP/Lonestar’s
Jake Carver claimed his first ever Best in the Desert
Pro SxS win at the Silver State 300 followed by
UTV Inc’s John Angel in second and Goliath Company’s
Scott Yancey in third.
This year, the UTV’s started behind the trophy
trucks, which made the course completely different
from the morning ATV classes, with huge ruts and
deep silt. Challenging and dusty conditions presented
themselves for the Silver State 300, but Jake
Carver and Jack Defibaugh were ready in the #1936
Polaris.

SxS Win at the Silver State 300 |
Carver was one of the last cars to start but
was looking fast and smooth early in the race.
Carver did end up with a broken axle at one point,
but that did not slow his efforts as he charged
his way to his first ever BITD Pro UTV win. “We
stopped at pit four for fuel and they noticed
we needed to change out the axle. We did that
quickly and got back out there. This was only
my third Best in the Desert race ever, so to get
the win and be on top of the podium is huge for
us,” said Carver.

ITP’s John Angal had his fair share of issues
with a broken axle at pit two and pit five, but
Angal was still able to pull off a second place
finish. “There was a lot of dust and the silt
was really deep, so we didn’t want to push too
hard because that eats the belts. At about pit
two, we broke an axle, and then at pit five, we
had a torn boot so we had to change out the axle
again. With all of that, we are pretty impressed
to finish in second,” said Angal, who is still
leading in class points.

Scott Yancey, who also stars in the reality TV
show “Flipping Vegas”, is new to the BITD series
this season and claimed his first top three finish.
“It was a big thing for us. We had mechanical
issues in previous races, so our goal was to finish
in the top ten, but to finish in the top three
was really exciting and makes us realize our potential,”
said Yancey, who is eager to repeat his success
in the Vegas to Reno.
