Marc Burnett and the Monster Energy Can-am Maverick had a good run as well. Burnett was one of the last teams to leave the starting line and was holding down seventh place at the end of the first lap after having some issues early in the race. Burnett wasn’t about to give up easily, so he charged hard in the final lap and worked his way up to an impressive second place finish.

“We’ve been getting pretty lucky, we’re not winning, but we’ve been finishing the race. We’ve never finished the race before and this is our fifth time coming out here and never had good luck. The Can-Am was running amazing for the entire race, and you’d be amazed they just keep right on going. The Can-Am this year has been great and rode unbelievable the whole way,” said Burnett.

The 1913 Lonestar Racing team of Branden Sims and Jacob Carver had a great start and was soon leading the way in the first lap, but in the second lap, they encountered issues, when their UTV would not go past 55MPH. This cost the team valuable time, putting them in a third place finish.

“Once we got out front, we were able to run 82MPH on most of the sections. At about the furthest dry lakebed out there we came into the pits and then it was 55. I couldn’t go faster than 55 so after that we ran 55, and came back in and had to switch a tire out and had a rim that was bent. We pulled the clutch cover off and couldn’t see anything visually wrong with it. After that, we tried to run 55 as consistent as possible, and I knew I could run well through the technical sections. I was figuring I could make some ground, which we did, and we ended up pretty well in third,” said driver, Branden Sims.
