                                          | | | The weather for the first race of the season
was good with temperatures in the 60’s and
very dry. The dry weather did cause some dust
that came into play later in the race, but for
the most part, conditions were good. The track
was typical for a desert race, consisting of high-speed
sand whoops, rocky sections that were brutal on
tires, and several sand wash areas. The laps were
over 70 miles long, which would put the race at
three laps for the pro ATV class and two laps
for a record number of SxS racers

                                  | The
motorcycles, ATVs, & SxS racers began
to line up around an hour before sunrise
for the start with the Pro Motorcycles leaving
the line at first light | There were seven pro ATV teams on the start and
they were released at one minute intervals after
the pro dirtbikes were dispatched. The Maxxis
1Q Pro ATV team of David Scott and Danny Prather
were the last team to start, but they made up
for it very quickly. Last season the team won
the championship by 64 points over their competition
and plan to do even better this year. In the first lap, the team charged hard and quickly
made their way past several other teams and moved
into second by lap two. By the start of the third
lap, the team charged hard and took the lead.
The 1Q team remained in the lead for the rest
of the race and took their first win of the season,
proving that they have no intension of giving
up their championship any time soon.

“We had a really good race. We had a little
trouble getting around the Side-by-Sides in the
final lap, but it all worked out and we were able
to take the win. It was a good way for us to start
the season and we are hoping to continue doing
well and defend our championship,” said
                                David Scott.

Scott & Danny Prather start of the 2012
season with a win | “We had a good race and I had a good time
out there. Taking that win was a good way to start
the season and I’m looking forward to the
next race,” added Danny Prather. The CT Racing’s 5Q team, which normally
consists of Nick Nelson and Keith Carlson, had
to make a last minute substitution as Carlson
broke his collar bone and was not able to race,
but Nelson was not at a disadvantage as WORCS
racer, Beau Baron, was more than happy to fill
in for the day. Baron was the first one to ride
for the team and he did amazingly well. |
