Cloudy, OK (9/30/2009)- It’s
great to finally have Fall like temperatures here
in the South. For the first time this year we didn’t
have to run the A/C at night, yea! Tom Foster and
crew welcomed ATVCCS riders with another well prepped
race track. The course was 9.2 miles long and offered
riders a little bit of everything. Of course the
main menu consisted of rocks. With the opening of
deer season just around the corner, the riders found
themselves maneuvering through confused moving deer
all weekend long. The Pee Wee track was very fast
and had a couple creek crossings in which the water
proved to be hard on mechanics, as the little machines
didn’t like being wet.
The plan normally is to run the 12 Modified class
first but Eddie Coffee was having a difficult time
getting Trey Carrels’ machine started. After
receiving assistance from a few other men he still
could not get any fire out of the ignition. Since
the 7 Under class riders where there and ready to
go we decided to let them race first and give the
guys more time to work on Treys machine. Savannah
Howell busted out to the early lead and pretty much
ran away with the victory. Hannah Underwood, participating
in her first race rode smooth and consistent to
take the runner up position. She was on the track
for 25 minutes and her little hands were feeling
the pain. But the huge smile on Hannah’s face
over shadowed any soreness in her hands.

With work still being done on Trey’s machine
we started the 10 Under class next. Kennedi Oxner
took the holeshot followed closely by Nick Birmingham,
Allison Howell, Cameron Trimble, Adam Miller,
and Lauren Underwood. Kennedi has been able to
pull away from the class in most of the races
this year but today Nick was on his game and stayed
very close for most of the race. In fact there
were places in the track where Kennedi would pull
out a little lead but in other places Nick could
reel her back in. It was a very exciting race
to watch. Cameron made the pass on Allison to
take over the third position at the end of the
first lap and not able to make up any ground on
the front two riders. Allison rode a great race
and was able to hold on to fourth place and Adam
Miller finished fifth. Adams machine was one of
those machines that didn’t like the water
and he was having a difficult time keeping it
running. Lauren Underwood rounded out the class
in sixth place.
