Berlin, NY (7/21/2015)
– Round 8 of the Mtn Dew ATV MX National Championship
Series was at Unadilla - The home of Horsepower
in New Berlin, NY. With heavy rain all day Thurs,
it left people wondering how the track would be
for Friday practice. Half way through the first
round of practice, the track shaped up nicely, and
there were even water trucks on the track, watering!
With no rain in the forecast for the rest of the
weekend, it was destined to be a great weekend of
Mtn Dew ATV Motocross racing!

Troy Hill extended his points lead in the
Schoolboy Sr class with the overall win
at Unadilla |
The Schoolboy Sr is a class of really fast kids
who, race after race, try to prove they are the
fastest. On Saturday, Troy Hill proved just that,
as he laid down the fastest lap time in this class,
and led all four laps. Sunday however, was a different
story for him. He got a bad start, but rode hard
and smart to work his way up to third place, where
he needed to be to get the overall and extend
his points lead over Cody Ford who finished fourth
overall on the weekend.

Cody Ford finished 4th overall in the Schoolboy
Sr Class & he is currently battling
Zimmerman for the championship |
Logan Stanfield moved up into the School Boy
sr class midway through the season, and he has
done well with the moto two win for a second overall
finish on the weekend followed by Alex Pafford
in third overall.

Logan Stanfield finished 2nd overall with
the Moto 2 Win in School Boy Sr |
The Schoolgirl is a class of some pretty fast
girls, who could possibly put a whooping on a
few of the boys! When the gate dropped on Saturday,
Lindsay Hutchinson shot out, as if she were fired
from a cannon! She battled with Niamh Shaw all
four laps, to hold onto that first position, which
she did. Shaw came in a close second, and Maddie
Guyer in third. On Saturday, Lindsay once again
yanked that holeshot, but was unable to hold off
Niamh Shaw and Maci Davenport. Shaw led the first
three laps but Davenport made a hard charge at
the end, to pass for the lead. Shaw finished in
a very close second, giving her the overall win,
extending her points lead a little further over
second place Maci Davenport.
In Supermini on Saturday, Peyton Zimmerman pulled
the holeshot, but was unable to hold onto the
lead, as Bryce Ford stole it in lap two. Ford
and Zimmerman battled for the position, but in
the end, Ford came out on top.

Bryce Ford grabbing the Holeshot in one
of his many motos this weekend with three
moto wins on Saturday alone |
On Sunday, in moto two, Ford was the unfortunate
victim of high adrenaline, and small space, as
he was squeezed in the holeshot, causing him to
come off his quad for quite a few seconds. Trevor
Thatcher pulled the holeshot and ran away with
the race. Logan Stanfield and Peyton Zimmerman
battled hard for the second place position, and
by the end of the third lap, they were closing
in on Thatcher. Trevor however was not having
it! He gathered up some strength and managed to
put a little gap between him and them, running
his fastest lap time, that last lap. Trevor Thatcher
claimed his first Supermini overall at Unadilla,
and even a couple of his opponents were at the
podium to congratulate him!
