Loretta Lynn’s Amateur AMA ATV Motocross Race Report

The Women's class would see a new entry this round with DASA Racing’s Emma McQuaid came over from Ireland and raced her way to the overall victory at Loretta Lynn’s with a 2-1 finish.   Chloe Buerster  secured the Moto One win, but McQuaid came back in Moto 2 and charge her way into the lead in the final lap to secure the Moto 2 win over class champion, Adrienne Cooper to secure the overall win.

2012 Women's Class Champion Adrienne Cooper

Joe Byrd Quad Riding School celebrated her 2012 Women's Class Championship with family & friends at the final round of the AMA ATV MX Season

DASA Racing’s Cooper held the early lead in Moto One, but she landed wrong over a jump and jammed her arms and chest into the handlebars, which sent her back to a fifth place finish.  In Moto 2, Cooper held the early lead, but she still wasn’t 100% and wasn’t able to hold off McQuaid.  Cooper finished out the season with a third place finish behind Buerster, but Cooper easily won the championship with five wins and never finished out of the top three all season.

Merrill Crose - Can-Am DS450 ATV
ITP's Merrill Crose raced in four classes at Loretta Lynn's & finished no less than second in each class

Typically you can hear the names of Travis Spader and Merrill Crose throughout the weekend as the pair of Can Am mounted racers battle it out in a myriad of classes. Spader suffered an injury at Red Bud and would be absent from this round however Crose was eagerly doing battle in his usual four classes. Crose completed his season finishing no less then second in each class, wrapping up wins in 450A and Open A. With Spader sidelined, Nick Gennusa rode to a 1-1 win in 4 Stroke A and looks to be a threat in 2013.

70 CVT Champion Trevor Thatcher
Youth ATV Racer Trevor Thatcher grabbed the 70 CVT Championship

Trevor Thatcher locked up the 70 CVT Championship and would score a 2-2 here at Loretta Lynn's. Maci Devenport brought home the championship in both Girls (12-15) with a 1-1 performance and had already locked up the 90 Production (8-15) class after a stellar season.

The 2012 season may be over but the rumblings from many of the racers social media sites are filled with planning for next year as well as the realization that the downtime is filled with boredom! We expect that free time will soon be filled with training and local racing as these riders live to compete and we wish them all a much needed break as they prepare for another season of AMA ATV National racing action
