AMA ATV Motocross -
Round 6 - High Point - Amateur Race Report
::Continued::
The amount of motos Merrill Crose and Travis
Spader have been racking up this year is staggering
as the pair of Can Am mounted riders continued
to put in the laps here at High Point. For Crose,
this weekend marked only the second time this
season he has finished off the box in four classes,
quite an accomplishment.
Crose was trying to make a pass for second place
in 450A when he connected with another rider causing
him to drop to a sixth place finish. Crose went
on to win Vet 30+ and added two more second place
finished in Junior 25+ and Open A. The sixth place
finish in 450A may be a huge factor in his hunt
for the class championship as the class is ultra
competitive and the points margin razor thin.
Spader continued his winning ways, logging 3 overall
wins and a third. Between these two racers, it
will be interesting to tally the motos and laps
come season end!

Lonestar's
Brett Musick won the Open B, 450B, Production
B & College 16-24 Classes at High Point
Raceway |
Open B racer Brett Musick found the track here
at High Point to his liking and wrapped up a stellar
list of wins in 450B, Production B and College
16-24. This weekends wins brings Musick's total
class win count to twelve and it doesn't appear
he is complaining!
The talent pool continues to grow in the amateur
ranks and the future looks very bright for so
many that will be moving up next season .

Shay Honeywell went 1-1 in the Women's Class
to take the Overall |
The Women's class fired off the gate and quickly
the fans were treated to a full on tire rubbing,
bar banging race. Shay Honeywell and Adrienne Cooper
battled early with the remainder of the class all
giving close chase. Cooper was able to make the
pass on Honeywell and put a few quad lengths on
her competitors as she rode to a 1-1 weekend. This
class had some of the closest competition we have
seen thus far as the level of competition has increased
at every round. The podium was set with Cooper claiming
her third overall and was joined by Chloe Buerster
taking second after claiming the win in moto two.
Rachel Dickson would find her best finish this season
as she rode to a 6-3 here at round six to claim
the third and final podium position.

Max Lindquist won the 50cc 6-8 Youth ATV
Class |
The youth classes continue to be a fan favorite
as these young racers inspire and impress everyone
with their ever increasing skill aboard their
highly prepped mini quads. Watching the adult
ranks rip into the terrain that is rutted, rough
and incredibly challenging only increases the
respect that these young riders deserve. Max Lindquist
(50cc 6-8) claimed his fifth overall win on the
season here at round six and did so in a commanding
fashion. Pulling the holeshot and then fended
off challenges early in both motos to go 1-1 for
the overall. Lindquist wasn't alone in the youth
ranks as Maci Davenport once again ripped into
90 Production (8-15) claiming the overall after
suffering issues in two other classes. Tyler Mack
and Cole Sepesi put on a thriller in Super Mini
(13-15) as the pair went 1-2 on the podium and
were joined by Haedyn Mickleson who claimed third.
The season still has tons of racing left as the
points battles play out in every class. From the
Pro's to the youngest of competitors, the passion
rolls with each gate drop as we are all witness
to success and failures as every moto is run.
