Buchanan, MI (8/5/2011) –
In a season where unpredictability has become expected,
the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross Championships are coming
down to the wire with only two races left in the
season, and with the way things have been going,
who will end up with the championship is anyone’s
guess and could quite easily come down to the final
round at Loretta Lynn’s.

Can-Am
/ Motorworks' John Natalie & Baldwin
Motorsports Josh Upperman are in a heated
battle for the championship. Upperman is
only 10 points from Natalie & it will
come down to the final round at Loretta
Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN |
|
Upperman
& Natalie have been the two to watch
at each race as they battle for the championship
down to the final round |
With Can-Am/Motoworks’ Chad Wienen out for
the season, the points chase has been intensely
competitive for many racers in the last couple of
rounds, with several top riders in key positions
to better their standings. John Natalie and Josh
Upperman, who are currently battling for the points
lead, were caught off guard by rookie pro Joel Hetrick
at Unadilla, as he took his first overall pro win
of his career, and picked up valuable points that
Upperman and Natalie were fighting for, making the
points battle between the two racers even more intense,
and making an overall win at the final rounds crucial
in order to secure the 2011 Pro Championship.
John Natalie, Jr. seems to have the weight of
the world, or at least the weight of the entire
Can-Am/Motoworks team, on his shoulders with the
turn of events that have left him as the sole
rider for the team in the final rounds of the
season. As the current points leader in the series,
and the only rider representing the team in their
quest for a championship, after Chad Wienen’s
crash early in July, the pressure is intense for
Natalie to succeed all while dealing with injury
himself.

John Natalie has earned three overall wins
and seven podium finishes so far this season
aboard his Can-Am DS 450 ATV |
“I broke my arm and had to have surgery
and put a plate in it, but with the championship
on the line there was no way I could take any
time off to recover. I had to go out there and
tough it out and try to salvage points. Josh Upperman
is a tough competitor and he isn’t far away
in the points chase and any points I can gain
are a benefit right now,” said Natalie.
