Mechanicsville,
MD – Round
four of the AMA ATV Motocross Championship at Budds
Creek also hosted an Outlaw Extreme Dirt Track race,
which attracted just over 100 participants. With
the official start of the 2011 Extreme Dirt Track
series just two weeks away in North Carolina, many
of the top pro racers took advantage of this racing
event as a warm-up, and multi-time champion, Harold
Goodman, had an impressive showing with wins in
both the Pro and Pro-Am classes. Brad Riley claimed
the runners-up spot in both events followed by none
other than 2011 AMA Pro ATV motocross points leader,
the “Ironman” John Natalie.

Can-Am's
John Natalie surprised everyone when he
signed up at the last minute to compete
in the Outlaw Extreme Dirt Track race after
going 1-1 on Saturday
|
Another
surprise appearance on Friday was 2-Time
MX Champion, Dustin Wimmer, but unfortunately
a mechanical issue kept him from racing
on Sunday |
The racing action was originally scheduled to
run on Saturday night after the completion of
the motocross racing action, but with a 100% chance
of rain forecasted for Saturday, it was decided
to run all the amateurs races on Friday, and leave
the Pro, Pro-Am, and Women’s classes to
run on Saturday if the weather cooperated.
Unfortunately, the rain lasted into evening,
but sun came out on Sunday and dried out the track,
and by that evening, it was time for the final
three classes to hit the track. The big surprise
was the addition of Can-Am’s motocross racers,
John Natalie and Cole Henry signing up to test
out their dirt track skills, and they both did
surprisingly well.

Harold Goodman takes the Pro Win |
The Pro class was full of action as Harold Goodman
grabbed the holeshot, with John Natalie close behind.
The pair charged ahead early on with Natalie keeping
pace with Goodman, but Natalie would fade off a
bit and come under attack from Brad Riley, leaving
Goodman to take an easy win. “I had a great
time today and I’m really looking forward
to returning to the series this year. I hope today’s
win is an indication of how the rest of my season
will go,” stated Goodman.
Natalie and Riley battled hard, with Riley getting
underneath Natalie in a turn to take over second
place. Riley held his position to take second
with Natalie finishing in third.

Can-Am's
#13 John Natalie held off #27 Brad Riley
for several laps before Riley was able to
get the inside line heading into the sweeper,
which allowed Riley to take over the 2nd
spot & begin his charge on Goodman,
but he wasn't able to catch Goodman before
the checkered flag

“It was a lot more competitive than I thought
it would be and those guys are really fast, but
it was a lot of fun,” said Natalie.
