Bowling
Green, KY (4/2/2011)
– Can-Am/Motoworks’ John Natalie, Jr.
took his first win of the season with teammate Chad
Wienen hot on his heels in second for the third
round of the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross Championships,
with Walsh Race Craft’s Jeremy Lawson also
making his first podium appearance of the year in
third.

Heavy
rains drenched the track Friday night, which
meant for a muddy start to the racing day
on Saturday, but by the 1PM start of the
Pro Moto One, the high winds and warm temperature
dried out the track, which made for near
perfect racing conditions |
The top three qualifiers at Ballance MX were Chad
Wienen, who score the ATVRiders.com fastest qualifier
award, with John Natalie as third fastest and Joel
Hetrick who was less than a tenth of a second behind
Natalie.

Can-Am
/ Motoworks' John Natalie battles past Blue
Rok's Devin Heimes as he charges to the
lead |
The weather was decent with clear skies and temps
in the low 60’s, and
track conditions started out good but got a little
rough towards the end of the day, but that didn’t
seem to matter to John Natalie as he charged his
way to his first win since July of 2010.
Can-Am/Motoworks’ John Natalie was in third
off the start and was soon challenging rookie
pro Devin Heimes for the number two spot. Natalie
got by Heimes in the second lap and then began
to chase down Josh Upperman who had almost a two
second lead.
Natalie put the pressure on and went for the
lead in lap five and got his wish. Despite pressure
from Wienen who had caught up, Natalie was able
to hang on for his first moto win of the season.
“I definitely got a good start and I had
a great race, so I am happy to take the win,”
said Natalie.

There
was an intense battle for the lead between
John Natalie & Chad Wienen as Wienen
charged into the second spot by lap 7 with
Wienen shadowing Natalie for the rest of
the Moto. The battle intensified in the
final lap of the race as Wienen went for
the win, but Natalie responded with the
fastest laptime of the race with a 01:35.472
to secure the win

Can-Am
/ Motoworks' John Natalie charges his way
into the lead in Moto 2 by the end of lap
one |
In the second moto, Natalie was on the gas off
the start and took second in the holeshot behind
Josh Upperman. It wasn’t long before Natalie
took the lead away from Upperman and began to
pull away. Natalie enjoyed a comfortable lead
for several laps before Chad Wienen caught up
with him.
The teammates battle hard for several laps, but
Natalie was determined to hold on to his lead
and put up an incredible fight. Natalie hung on
despite several attempts by Wienen to take over
the lead and claimed the moto two win and the
top spot on the podium.
