Win & Josh Creamer Clinches the Championship |
Hurricane
Mills, TN – Under
the threat of stormy skies, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s
Josh Creamer wrapped up his first ever AMA ATV Motocross
Pro Championship and as the champagne flowed, it
was Chad Wienen who would top the podium, followed
by Dustin Wimmer and Jeremy Lawson.
A strong storm cell moved through the track area
on Saturday evening causing officials to postpone
the remaining motos till Sunday morning including
the LCQ races, but just as racing resumed on Sunday
morning, another storm moved in over the track,
which left the track covered in standing water
and lots of mud in its wake.
With lighting and a power outage racing was once
again suspended for nearly two hours while the
track crew prepped the track, and more rain was
in the forecast, so officials at Loretta Lynn’s
made the decision to cancel the Pro Fastest Qualifier,
and shorten both the Pro and Pro-am classes to
a winner take all, one moto format, which by default,
clinched the AMA Pro ATV Championship for Suzuki’s
Josh Creamer.

It
was as hot as ever at Loretta Lynn's Ranch
on Saturday with a heat index well above
the century mark, which sent many to the
river for some relief from the heat, but
by mid afternoon, the storm clouds moved
in and dumped a ton of rain on the track,
which prompted an early end to the racing
action |

|
After a calm
night, Mother Nature roared to life once
again Sunday morning with another major
downpour by 8:30am in the morning, which
once again postponed the racing action
for several hours as the track crew scrambled
to salvage to the track, and as usual
the Racer Production crew did an excellent
job in a short amount of time, but with
more rain possible on the horizon, the
amateur races were cut to 3 lap Motos

AMA
Pro Referee, Harv Whipple, announced that
the Pro & Pro-am Races were going to
a one Moto format, which meant only 25 points
were up for grabs, which clinched the Pro
Championship for Josh Creamer with a 40
point lead over 2X Champion, Dustin Wimmer |
Heading into the final round, Creamer held a 40
point lead over teammate, Dustin Wimmer, and with
the format reduced to just one Moto, only 25 points
were up for grabs at Loretta Lynn’s, which
secured Creamer the championship before the gate
ever dropped. It was a huge relief off Creamer’s
shoulder, so he was ready to give it his all instead
of racing conservatively as originally planned to
secure his bid for the championship. to secure the
championship.
With first going to Josh Creamer and second place
going to Dustin Wimmer, the real battle in the
points race was going to be between, Chad Wienen,
John Natalie & Josh Upperman as they all were
battling for the third spot in the championship
points.
