Suzuki's
Josh Creamer dominates Steel City for the
2nd straight year going 1-1 for the overall
win |
Delmont,
PA – The Rockstar
Makita Suzuki team of Josh Creamer and Dustin Wimmer
would dominate the podium in the number one and
two spots at Steel City, while Yamaha’s Thomas
Brown would put on quite a show to find his way
to the podium for the second time this season.
The Steel City track was one of the toughest
tracks that racers have encountered so far this
season, with huge jumps and big breaking bumps
that just seemed to get bigger throughout the
day. The sun was out in full force baking racers
with temperatures closing in on the 90 degree
mark, which would seem to have an impact on some
performances throughout the day.

The
picture perfect weather for the Memorial
Day weekend AMA ATV MX race attracted a
large crowd of spectators out to Steel City
to watch the racing action & grab some
swag & autographs |
Steel
City is one of the most technical tracks
in the series, but for 2010 the huge double
normally reserved just for the Pro bikes
was also added, which extended the track
to an average laptime of 2:30 for the Pros |
Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Josh Creamer made
an amazing charge in moto one, coming from a 13th
place start, to take the moto one win by almost
eight seconds. The moto one start was a bit knarly
as racers charged off the line, which caused Josh
Creamer to get pinched out and forced him to battle
his way through the pack. Creamer’s impressive
charge had him recording some incredible lap times,
with that fastest being a 02:24.531. Creamer would
battle with leader John Natalie for a couple of
laps before he would be able to make his move
in the second to last lap.

#9
Josh Creamer started near the back of
the pack, but he more determined than
ever as he picked off atleast one racer
each lap for the 1st half of the race
& then he put down the hammer in lap
seven by running a race leading 02:24.531
laptime, which was 3 seconds faster than
anyone else that lap, which allowed him
to close the gap on Can-Am's John Natalie
& Yamaha's Thomas Brown battling for
the lead, and by lap 9, Creamer passed
them both to take over the lead &
claim the Moto One Win
|
From there, Creamer would check out to take the
moto one win. “It was a tough race. Dustin
(Wimmer) and I were in 12th and 13th off the start
because things got a little crazy and there was
a bit of a bottleneck, but I just put my head
down and started picking people off. Once I got
around Dustin, I just set my sights on the leader
and went for it,” said Creamer.

In
Moto 2, there was a three way battle for
the lead in lap two between #10 Greg Gee,
#84 Thomas Brown & #9 Josh Creamer.
In the heat of the battle, all three of
the newly added option lanes were being
utilized as Creamer was once again in
the hunt for the lead, which he took control
of in lap three with the fastest laptime
of the Moto (02:25.163)

#9
Josh Creamer Win puts him back into the
points lead (219) over #1 Dustin Wimmer
(216) with by a slim margin of just 3 points
over Wimmer |
In moto two, Creamer was determined he was going
to take another win. Creamer was in third off
the line and charged his way into second with
ease where he would battle briefly with Thomas
Brown before taking over the lead and pull a comfortable
4 second gap. Creamer would hold his lead all
the way to the checkered flag to go 1-1 and claim
the top spot on the pro podium.
“I’m really happy to be on the podium
again with the win, I’d like to win them
all, but it’s still only half way through
the season so we will see what happens from here,”
said Creamer from the podium.
