Suzuki's Dustin Wimmer Claims his 2nd Straight
AMA Pro ATV Motocross Championship |
Hurricane
Mills, TN (8/16/2009)
– Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s
Dustin Wimmer proved that he is without a doubt,
what champions are made of as he wrapped up his
second consecutive AMA ATV Pro Motocross Championship
at Loretta Lynn’s this weekend.
“I knew I only had to get five points to
take the championship, so I played it safe, even
though my adrenaline was really pumping,”
said Wimmer, whose shoulder injury earlier in
the season made it appear a repeat championship
would be almost impossible. “It really makes
it even better for me after everything I’ve
been through this season,” said an elated
Wimmer.

Kawasaki's
Josh Creamer grabbed the Moto One holeshot
checked out on the field to claim the
Moto win

Kawasaki's
Josh Creamer 2nd place finish in Moto 2
was more than enough to claim his 2nd Overall
Win of the year |
Although Wimmer took the championship, It was
Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Josh Creamer who
would take the over win at the final round of
2009. Creamer flew off the line to take the moto
one holeshot and proceeded to check out, leading
the entire moto all the way to the checkered flag.
In moto two, Creamer was second off the line
behind Harold Goodman, but was able to make the
pass early in the first lap when Goodman would
get a rock caught in his wheel. Creamer led for
most of the moto until teammate Chad Wienen caught
up and made the pass to take the moto win, but
Creamer’s 1-2 finish was good enough to
earn him the top spot on the podium and end his
season on a high note.

Joe
Byrd pours the bubbly for Josh Creamer on
the Podium |
Honda’s Joe Byrd was on the gas as he powered
his way to take second overall and second in the
points race. Byrd got off to a mid pack start
in mot one and quickly began to work his way up.
By the midway point, Byrd was running in a comfortable
second and stayed there until reaching the finish
line.
In the second moto Byrd got a better start in
third and worked his way to the number two spot,
but fell back to third when Chad Wienen came calling.
Byrd’s 2-3 finishes gave him second overall
and allowed him to edge out Chad Wienen by three
points for second in the points chase.
