12 Hours of ATV America Race Report
Amateur ATV Race Report - Continued

| Industry
Class Winners C&D Racing's Dusty Kostman
was one of the few women racing as she turned
laps right up there with the men racers |
In the Industry Class, ATVriders.com long time sponsors
C&D Racing claimed the top honors with Colby
Kostman, Dusty Kostman, and Shane Schrock running
49 laps. JH Racing gave them a run for the win finishing
on the same lap followed by Team DNF Racing.
The Youth class saw plenty of action and didn’t
let any of the dust or blue groove that developed
slow them down. The youth team riders put on a
valiant effort and kept pace with several of the
Pro teams. Once the dust settled, it was Team
ELS (McGrath/Fowler/Gann) that took first, the
Wild Boys were second, and team Young Guns took
the final place on the podium.
In the Utility class, Team Can-Am (Swift/Beasley/Cecco)
took the number one spot on the podium. Rounding
out the rest of the Utitilty class was Arctic
Cat’s Team West in second and Grizz Racing
in third.

Ironman winner, Daniel Pirrie (ATVSkills.com)
finished out the 12 hour event solo with 43 laps
to his credit allow with runner-up racer, Zach
Martin, which was an impressive total for these
two racers. Todd Macke was once again back in
action at he 12 Hour, and he completed an amazing
27 laps. For Todd this was an outstanding accomplishment
considering he was born with Cerebral Palsy, but
it hasn’t slowed him down, and he is a true
inspiration to all ATV racers.

Brady
Foster's Ironman race came to an end early
when his CanAm Outlander burned to the ground
from a gas leak |
Despite the majority of the racers having a great
time, the event surely had some issues, and the
biggest was the scoring system. Many racers were
left with a bitter aftertaste as it appeared that
some teams’ laps were unaccounted for at
the end of the race, putting them a lap behind
and short changing them in their standings, and
the Arctic Cat West Racing Team felt they deserved
the number one position after totaling their lap
times compared to the scoring system. They weren’t
alone as several teams disputed their results
after the event, which created a chaotic scene,
so for many, the finalized race results still
are questionable, which is unfortunate.
Beyond the scoring issues, there was also an
uproar over the promised money / contingencies
being awarded after the race, which had a crowd
of racers demanding their prizes before they left,
and eventually everything was apparently resolved
after much debate.
At one time, the 12 Hours of ATV America was
premiere event, which attracted over a 100 race
teams, but over the years, it has lost its appeal
to many racers because of the repeated management
issues year after year, which have caused the
entries to tumble. If this is the last year of
the 12 Hours of ATV America, I am sure another
Promoter will build off the concept, and hopefully,
it will once again attract over 100 teams because
for anyone that has raced an endurance race, they
are one of the most intense and fun forms of ATV
racing you will ever experience.
