Greenville, TX (11/17/2007) –For
the 5th straight year, Chris Borich has won the
Maxxis 12 Hours of ATV America, and for 2007, Borich
claimed the win with teammates John Natalie Jr.
and Chris Bithell on a Tom Clark Motorsports Honda
TRX450R. Dirtworks Motorsports (Duane Johnson, Michael
Burrows, Kyle Martin) finish out the day in second
place just one lap behind the leaders with 58 laps,
and Team Trifecta (Donald Ockerman, Shawn Hess,
David Crane) rounded out the Pro Podium in third
with GNCC racers dominating the events.
The 12 hour endurance race was once again held
in Greenville, Texas at the Caddio Point, which
is home to the Miller brothers’ (Cody and
Hunter), and just over 60 teams made the trip
down to Texas for the event, which was nearly
double the attendance over 2006. The increased
attendance was most likely due to the event allowing
teams to run multiple quads for the first time
instead of just one for the entire race.

The track setup included some man made obstacles
that proved to be quite challenging. “It
was about a 7 ½ mile course. They had a
“bleachers section”, then a section
with tractor tires that a lot of quads got caught
up on.” Said 30+ class rider Ron Dernoski.
“There was a 100ft. double in the MX section
that only a couple of riders were actually hitting.
There was also a section where you had to ride
through a maze of hay bales, and not just the
small square bales but the big round ones. It
was pretty cool!” Ron said enthusiastically.
A big mud hole towards the back of the track also
proved to be quite a hazard. If not negotiated
right, riders found themselves practically having
to swim out of the muck.
The start of the race was a LeMans style. As
the starting shot rang out, the 61 teams made
a mad dash to their machines and soon were on
their way. As the racers came through the first
lap, it was with Aaron Myer on the #70 quad of
the Media Allstars Team that was in the lead for
the Pro class, with John Natalie, Jr. in close
pursuit. Natalie’s team managed to gain
the lead in the second lap and never looked back
as the Tom Motorsports Team went on to claim the
win.

The top finishing amateur team was the A Class
team of Performance Honda (Josh Kirkland, Adam
Reed, Anthony Hill). This dynamic trio ran 55
laps, which was just 4 laps behind the top finishing
Pro Class team. With Team Laker Custom Plastic
and Team Maxxis rounding out the top three. Jeff
Horton was on the Maxxis Team, and for those of
you don’t know, he drives the Maxxis Rig
to all the races on the East Coast from WPSA,
ATVAMX, and GNCC events. For him, it was one of
the few times to get to race this year, but it
didn’t seem to slow him down.
