Review of the Yoshimura Slip-on Silencer for the 400EX
(written by Duner400ex)
I got my 400ex about a year ago and was very pleased with the performance of
the machine, it pulled through every gear hard. After a couple of
months i got used to the power of the 400ex, and started looking for pipes in
magazines and the internet. I looked at DG and FMF, and they seemed like
great pipes, but I kept doing my research.
It was in my issue of Dirtwheels where I just happen to come across a little
article saying that Yoshimura was the #1 pipe claimed by pros. So I started
looking into that pipe. I started asking around and people said that the Yoshimura
was a great pipe, and it increased the power so much.
In December I recieved the Yoshimura slip on
pipe for $239.99 from Rocky Mountain ATV. When I got it I right away
noticed the weight difference. The Pipe looked great, so me and my dad
installed it and fired it up right away. WOW!! The sound difference was
great, the deep throaty sound of a 4-stroke. So then i took it out in the snow
and noticed that it indeed gave me alot more torque down low and pulled very
hard through midrange.
One thing that I did not like was that since the pipe
gave me more torque it felt that it was harder to start off in 1st but once I
reved it out and clicked into second those troubles were all gone. I would
say this is a must buy pipe for the 400ex. I was very pleased
with it and I know that other people that buy this pipe will be too.
