Maier Plastic
Review of Maier plastic skid plates for the 400EX

(written by Hedgehog400ex)

I recently bought the Maier Plastic skid plates and A-arm guards. The fit is really good and they look quite nice as well. The cost is $103. delivered to the door for the guards and the skid plate. They offer much better protection than what is there stock form, which is nothing.

The installation on the skid plate was a snap. It slides right under the front bumper and then attaches with clamps on the frame. They do come with two drain holes which will make changing the oil a snap and just as easy as without them.

Now the A-arm guards proved to be a pain. It was a little tough to get them lined up so the clamps would clamp down on there good. You have to drill the plastic, but they do provide indentations right where the holes need to go and that was easy as well. The only problem I had with that was that I did have to widen a couple of the holes to get them to line up right.

The cost of these compared to some of the aluminum products is much cheaper and they are holding up well so far. Additionally Maier has a 1 year warranty against breakage. I would reccomend these skid plates to anybody who wants protection but doesn't want to pay the big $$ for the DG or some of the other aluminum products.

Bugs in my teeth!
