FTM Headlight covers for the 400EX

Installing the covers....
Installing the headlight covers couldn't be simpler, they just 'snap' in. Removing the covers proved to be a bit more diffucult, but that just goes to show how well the retention clips work.

Construction....
The covers are made from high quality polypropylene plastic, and are suprisingly 'rugged'. They appear sturdy enough to easily protect the delicate headlight lens.

Looks....
I like the 'blackout' effect the covers give the headlights when viewed from any direction except straight on.. Overall they fit well, I have no complaints about the appearance.

Riding in daylight....
During the day, the covers provide two very usefull functions. Not only do they protect the lights, but they also look great! After 2 days of hard riding they haven't fallen off, and I don't think they will.

Riding at night....
I was very curious to see how they affected the output of the lights at night. Suprisingly they had little effect on the total output of the lights. The only thing I did notice was you could see the shadows of the cross bars in the outer edges of the headlight beam. This was made more noticable by the snow, as it does an excellent job of reflecting light. It might not even be noticable when riding on dirt. The shadow effect didn't bother me personally, but it may bother some people.

Final thoughts...
The fit well, they look good, they seem to offer decent protection... what more could you want from a headlight guard?
