Unadilla is a long haul for most of the GNCC
competitors, but the historic setting and great
race course make it worthwhile. The hot, dry summer
made the track quite dusty and rough in some sections,
but all in all, it is a fun track to compete on.
Race day was sunny and on the hot side.
Jarrod got a middle of the pack start, and as
things sorted out, he was able to get into a good
rhythm. The long, pro style motocross section
was particularly fun. He went from 10th to 5th
in three laps, and was running a fast but comfortable
pace. On lap four, Jarrod noticed some coolant
spewing out the radiator vent hose. On lap five,
it was getting progressively worse. He tried to
nurse it to the finish since he had a substantial
margin over 6th place. But it was not to be today,
and the engine quit near the end of the last lap.
Jarrod was very happy with the way the Polaris
Outlaw was performing, and had a sure top five
finish before the problem set in. The team will
get the machine back in good working condition
for the next race in Lafayette, Tennessee in two
weeks. Jarrod plans on doing some testing at William
Yokley's farm in KY to prepare for the race. We'll
see you there!
