The Yadkin Valley Stomp GNCC ATV Race Report
Yadkin Valley Stomp
GNCC - Round 6 - Yadkinville, NC - May 8, 2010
Frankfurt, KY (5/10/2010) -
National Guard Polaris Yokley Racing ATV Team
rider Jarrod McClure finished 7th overall and
7th in the XC1 Pro ATV Class today in Round 6
of the 2010 GNCC Series. There were 149 total
entries with 14 XC1 Pro Riders.
Yadkinville is located in a scenic part of North
Carolina with many wineries and lots of ATV enthusiasts.
The weather was quite warm and dry, which made
for a very dusty race course. The clay dust was
so thick that everything including the race gear
and bike looked orange after the race.
Jarrod got a mid pack start and immediately was
having trouble seeing due to the dust. To make
matters worse, about eight of the XC2 Pro Am riders
missed a turn and cut out about a mile of the
course. These riders were actually in front of
most of the Pro riders after about 2 miles in,
which made even more dust! It also spread the
pros out as passing was very difficult in these
conditions. Many times during the first lap, riders
would have to almost come to a stop because of
poor visibility.
Jarrod worked his way through all the Pro Am
racers, and passed up to 7th overall by the finish.
It was a good finish considering the conditions,
and both rider and bike came in unscathed. The
Polaris ran strong all day!
The team is looking forward to the next event
in Somerset, PA on May 22. Jarrod McClure will
be racing the Outlaw 450 ATV and William Yokley
will be racing the Polaris RZR in the UTV race
as well. See you there!
