Yokley Racing's
Big Buck GNCC ATV / UTV Race Report
Big
Buck GNCC - Round 4 - Union, South Carolina -
April 10, 2010
Frankfurt, KY (4/12/2010) -
National Guard Polaris Yokley Racing ATV Team
rider Jarrod McClure finished 141st overall and
13th in the XC1 Pro ATV Class today in Round 4
of the 2010 GNCC Series after experiencing some
mechanical problems. There were 171 total entries
with 14 XC1 Pro Riders. National Guard Polaris
DragonFire Yokley Racing UTV Team driver William
Yokley finished 9th overall and 7th Open Modified
in the UTV race. There were 48 total UTV entries
including 25 Open Modified teams.
GNCC ATV / UTV Race Summary:
The Big Buck promoters always
put on a challenging event. They include a lot
of tight woods with deep ruts and the famous creek
jump to make it interesting. Jarrod had done some
tire testing with the Kenda engineers since the
last race, and was looking forward to trying the
new tires. He got a very good start, settling
into the woods in 5th place. The conditions were
hot and dusty. Toward the end of the first lap,
a tree branch kicked up and knocked the radiator
hose loose, resulting in a split in the hose.
This caused the engine to lose coolant and overheat.
Jarrod limped back to the pits, where his crew
went to work pulling the tank and fenders, and
replacing the hose. At this point, he was a lap
down to the field, and was trying to salvage points.
He did finish the race, but was unable to improve
his position. He said the bike worked great before
the hose incident, and loved the way the Kenda
tires worked.

William Yokley
- Polaris Rzr 800
|
In the UTV race, William Yokley had to start
toward the back in the fifth row due to the luck
of the random draw for starting position. He had
one of the local South Carolina National Guard
recruiters as his guest passenger today. The UTV
course was very tight which made it quite difficult
to pass. At the end of the second lap, he got
hung up between two trees that were about an inch
narrower that his machine. So, it took awhile
to unwedge the RZR and get back into competition.
William worked his way up to 7th in the Open Modified
class at the finish.
Both teams had a disappointing day but that’s
the way it goes sometimes. William and Jarrod
are looking forward to the next event at the historic
Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills,
TN in two weeks. See you there!
