Polaris / Coastal Racing's #1 William Yokley just missed by seconds after a stalled machine got in his way

Frankfurt, KY (6/5/2013) - Polaris / Coastal / CST / National Guard / Yoshimura / Yokley Racing Team driver William Yokley finished 4th Overall and 4th in the XC1 Modified Class.  Team driver Scott Kiger finished 5th Overall and 5th in the same class.  There were 51 total entries including 23 XC1 Modified teams.  William’s guest passenger was his wife Tina, and Scott’s passenger was Tyler King.

The John Penton GNCC course is always challenging with technical woods sections, open fields and parts of a pro motocross track.  The area got some much needed rain on Friday night, which made the track just about perfect for Saturday’s Side by Side race.  With the temperature in the 90’s and high humidity, the racers headed to the starting area.

William Yokley & Scott Kiger - Polaris RZR XP 900 SxS / UTV
#1 William Yokley & #808 Scott Kiger placed 4th at 5th respectability in their Polaris RZR XP 900 SxS / UTVs at the John Penton GNCC in Millfield, Ohio

At the start, the Coastal Polaris National Guard teams of Yokley and Kiger headed into the woods in 3rd and 4th positions.  The teams liked the 5-mile course because it offered adequate passing zones for this 6-lap race.  The teammates stayed glued together for most all of the race, and it came down to the last few turns to decide who would be on the podium.

Unfortunately, in the last 100 yards, there was a competitor’s machine sitting still in a one line rut before the finish.  By the time Yokley ran into the back of the machine and shoved him all the way through the scoring barrels, they both missed the podium by a couple of seconds, finishing 4th & 5th!

All in all, it was a good day for the team; the RZR XP900s ran flawlessly with no problems or damage.  The next event is in Masontown, West Virginia in two weeks for the Mountaineer Run GNCC.  We’ll see you there!
