Frankfurt, KY (4/30/2012) - National
Guard / Coastal / Bowers Motorcycle Supplies / Yokley
Racing Team rider Jarrod McClure finished 4th Overall
and 4th in the XC1 Pro Class. There were 189 total
entries including 14 XC1 Pro racers.
The Mammoth is a new location on the GNCC schedule
this year, and everyone was excited to experience
a track that had never been ridden on. The facility
is a beautiful property located right next to
Park Mammoth Resort Golf Course, and is a combination
of fast, rolling field sections as well as lots
of tight, freshly cut, and technical woods trails.
It was a hot day in the 80’s and the woods
sections featured an abundance of rocks.
At the drop of the flag, Jarrod got a good start
and was battling for position in turn 1 when he
ran over another machine’s wheel. The impact
launched his ATV in the air with the rear end
about 4 feet higher in the air than the front.
Jarrod managed to hang on and actually ran with
the leaders in 3rd place going into lap 2. Lapped
riders were difficult to get around in the tight
sections since there was usually only one racing
line.
Jarrod held down 4th place the final 2 laps,
and had to stop for another splash of fuel on
the last lap to make sure he finished the 2 hour
18 minute race. It was another good finish for
Jarrod, and moved him up to 6th place in the GNCC
XC1 Pro class season points. The race course was
very demanding and the hot weather tested everyone’s
endurance. Jarrod wanted to throw out a big thanks
to Mark Spataro of Moto Pro Training for all his
help and guidance with his fitness program. You
can clearly see how a great fitness coach can
help your program and confidence, especially toward
the end of races.
The next GNCC is another new venue in Springville,
Indiana in two weeks, so it should be another
great weekend of off-road racing. We’ll
see you there!
