Frankfurt, KY (11/15/2011) - National
Guard Polaris Coastal DragonFire Yokley Racing Team
driver William Yokley finished 9th in the Side by
Side Class 1. National Guard Polaris Coastal Yokley
Racing Team driver Scott Kiger finished 7th in the
same class. Yokley is the 2011 WORCS Side by Side
Class 1 National Champion and Kiger finished 6th
in WORCS season points.
National Guard Coastal Yokley Racing Pro ATV
Team rider Jarrod McClure finished 8th in the
Pro ATV class, and 7th in WORCS season points.
The team arrived in Arizona for the last WORCS
race of the 2011 season. William Yokley had already
wrapped up the 2011 GNCC Side by Side National
Championship three weeks ago in Indiana, and now
was focused on doing the same in the WORCS championship
series. The Speed World MX facility is multi-use
with a dragstrip, freestyle, motocross and offroad
desert courses.
Yokley only needed to finish in the top eight
to clinch the championship, so he planned to be
a little less aggressive than usual. It was a
good thing he had a points cushion because his
day did not go as planned! He got a good start
from the front row, and stayed out of the beating
and banging which is typical in the first few
corners. He stayed right behind the lead group
and things were going smoothly. Teammate Scott
Kiger started on row 2, and was having a very
good race. On lap 2, Scott came upon William sitting
on the side of the track. Like a loyal teammate,
he stopped to see if he could help. They assessed
the situation, and decided that he would tow William
back to the pit area for repairs.

in sixth in the Side-by-Side Class 1 |
Once back in the pits, the National Guard Polaris
Coastal crew jumped in and changed the malfunctioning
clutch in a matter of minutes. Scott got back
in the race, and a few minutes later, William
did as well. They were more than a lap down by
now, but they soldiered on to the finish. By finishing
9th, William was able to take the championship
by just a few points. Kiger was running a great
race, and looked like he would have his best finish
of the season until he stopped to help William.
Scott finished the day in 7th place.
William Yokley and the Polaris Ranger RZR XP900
have won the season championships in both the
GNCC and WORCS this year. This is quite an accomplishment
against this high level of competition. A big
thanks goes out to all the team sponsors who have
supported Yokley Racing in 2011!
The Pro ATV race on Sunday looked like it was
going to be a mudfest due to the rain all night
and into the morning. A good start would be important
in order to stay out of some of the roost. The
race was started using the Pro Motocross starting
gate, and when the gate dropped, Jarrod was running
in 7th place. He was able to make a few passes,
and worked his way up to 4th going into lap 2.

National Guard's Jarrod McClure
also raced in both the WORCS & the GNCC
ATV Racing Series placing Seventh in WORCS
Pro Class & sixth in the GNCC XC1 Pro
Class |
The course included the surrounding desert areas,
as well as parts of the motocross course. The
WORCS crew set up the usual obstacles of stacked
logs and huge heavy equipment tires, just to make
it interesting. The track started drying up a
bit as the race progressed, and became really
fast. Jarrod was running a strong pace, and the
bike was working well.
He came in for his fuel stop about half way through
this 90 minute race. The crew took a little extra
time to clean some of the mud off of the radiators
to help with the cooling system. He re-entered
the race in 5th place and attempted to make up
some time. On the last lap of this 10 lap race,
Jarrod’s machine started slowing down, and
finally came to a stop. He could not get it restarted,
and had to call it a day. He finished the race
in 8th place, and finished 7th in the WORCS season
points.
This has been a long season and a lot of coast
to coast travel for the team. Again, we could
not have done this without all of our great team
sponsors! We look forward to seeing everyone at
the races in 2012!
