Frankfurt, KY (1/26/2011) - National
Guard Coastal Yokley Racing ATV Team rider Jarrod
McClure finished 9th overall in the Pro ATV class
today in Round 1 of the 2011 WORSC Series. National
Guard Polaris Coastal DragonFire Yokley Racing Team
driver William Yokley finished 3rd in the Side by
Side Class 1 UTV class. National Guard Polaris Coastal
Yokley Racing Team driver Scott Kiger finished 4th
in the same class.
Yokley Racing traveled to the west coast for
Round 1 of the 2011 WORCS series in Taft, CA.
The team unveiled its new hauler and race machines
for 2011. The all new 2011 Polaris RZR XP 900
was being raced for the first time. With a short
time period for preparation, the RZR used very
few specialty parts, and the motor, transmission
and clutches were stock. This is the only side
by side machine available that you can race competitively
in basically stock configuration in the top level
classes. Polaris hit another “Home Run”
on this new model!

The 45 minute UTV race started out great for
the Yokley Racing team, running 1st and 2nd at
the start. Scott Kiger led the 1st lap with Yokley
close behind. Yokley had Dirt Wheels Magazine
editor Brad Howe as his passenger. Yokley was
running maybe a little too close, as his radiator
got clogged by the roost off the RZR. The overheating
forced him to the pit area where the crew cleaned
the dirt from the radiator. Meanwhile, Kiger landed
off of a big jump with full power on, and snapped
a rear axle, eventually ending his day early.
William was able to finish the race at a reduced
pace. Both team drivers were very optimistic about
the season, as the Polaris was working great before
the set backs. The team will correct the early
problems, and be ready for Round 2 on Feb. 26
in Primm, NV.
The National Guard Coastal Yokley Racing ATV
had good day for the first race of the season.
Team rider Jarrod McClure had been training in
Florida over the winter, and experienced a wrist
injury recently, so expectations were to race
and finish without further injury. He qualified
10th and when the 90 minute race began, he was
mid- pack. Several turns into the race, a rider
in front of him spun out; Jarrod had no way to
avoid him and slammed into him. He got his tire
locked into the other rider’s nerf bar,
and they could not get unhooked. Eventually, after
all the other riders passed them, they finally
got going. The course was very fast with many
high speed straights, and rough, square edged
bumps. Parts of the course were hard packed and
slick, while the motorcross sections were tacky.
Jarrod worked his way up to 9th at the finish,
and was pleased with the finish under the circumstances.
The wide open west coast terrain and set up is
different than the more technical east coast where
he had been training, so with today’s experience,
he will be better prepared for Round 2.
