Frankfurt, KY (5/31/2011) -National
Guard Polaris Coastal Yokley Racing Team driver
Scott Kiger finished 5th Overall, and National Guard
Polaris Coastal DragonFire Yokley Racing Team driver
William Yokley finished 10th Overall and 9th in
the Side by Side Open Modified Class. There were
38 total entries with 16 Open Modified teams in
the race today. William’s guest passenger
was Joe Waligora, and Scott’s passenger was
Phillip Weser, West Virginia’s largest general
building contractor.
The race at Rock Run got its name from the vast amount of rocks throughout
the facility. The course is challenging with very
technical rock sections and fast open areas, and
if you get off track, there are even more rocks!
Unlike the last GNCC, the weather was great with
sunny skies and temps in the 70s.

The race began with William Yokley getting the
hole shot, and holding the lead for awhile. As
they completed lap 1, he was in 3rd. His machine
began experiencing problems and would not run
more than half throttle. He could maintain speed
through the tighter, technical sections, but was
at a noticeable disadvantage in the faster open
areas. On the 5th of 7 laps, the team felt an
unusual vibration and thought something may be
dragging or wrong underneath. They stopped and
checked it over, saw nothing, and then continued
on. They lost 6 positions during the stop, and
finished out the last 2 laps in 9th position.
Scott Kiger had a decent start and came through
lap 1 in 7th position. He drove a steady pace,
trying to take care of the Ranger RZR XP 900 in
the rocky terrain. If you tried to pass someone
by getting off line, the rocks were even worse!
Scott worked his way up to 5th by end of the 45
minute race.
Both teams felt they should have finished closer
to the front, but there is a lot of parity in
the Open Modified class with many good teams,
so finishing in the top 10 is not a bad result.
The National Guard Polaris Side by Side Teams
must now prepare for next weekend’s WORCS
race in Clay Peaks Idaho. We will keep everyone
posted, and thanks again for all the support from
our sponsors and fans!
