Oakland, KY (11/7/2007) - The
2007 race season may be over, but the work of
a champion is never quite finished, especially
if you are 8-time GNCC champion Bill Ballance.
Despite the welcomed break from racing, Ballance
still has other obligations to attend to throughout
the year. One big obligation on Bill’s list
was giving thanks to the folks at Yamaha.
In appreciation of all the hard work and dedication
he received from his factory supporter, Bill
recently autographed 1,200 jerseys for Yamaha
that will be presented to Yamaha dealers around
the country. Bill, his family and crew put forth
a team effort and spent an entire day signing,
folding and packing the jerseys for their destination.
Despite his rather hectic off-season schedule,
Bill will be getting some well deserved R&R
next week. Ballance and fellow GNCC racers Johnny
Gallagher, Traci Cecco, and others will be heading
to California for some fun in the sand at Glamis.
REM Performance’s Ray Martinez has invited
out his GNCC racers to California the past couple
of years for some fun and racing.
After a couple days of relaxation and play
at the dunes, it will be back to work for Ballance.
Bill will be heading to Yamaha’s corporate
headquarters in Cypress, CA on Thursday. It
is then that Yamaha will be announcing their
factory race team for the 2008 season, which
of course the legendary Ballance will be a part
of once again.
As if that wasn’t enough to keep the
GNCC champ occupied, Bill will be heading to
Las Vegas on November 16th to attend the 5th
annual AMA Sports Award Banquet at the Rio All-Suite
Casino Resort. Ballance has been nominated for
the ATVA Athlete of the Year Award not only
because of his record breaking eighth consecutive
GNCC Championship, but also for his good sportsmanship
on and off the track.
