Yamaha ATV and bLU cRU off-road riders took a win and another four podiums in key GNCC classes at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. over the May 10-11 weekend. Grabbing his third win of the year in XC2 Pro Am ATV on Saturday was N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha’s Cole Richardson, while teammate Walker Fowler took his fifth podium this season in the premier XC1 Pro ATV category. Both YFZ450R riders are now second in their respective classes.

As usual, Saturday afternoon’s two-hour ATV pro race was plenty dramatic. Contrary to his usual quick launch, Fowler started toward the back of the class and spent the first part of the race battling forward. He advanced into fourth by the second of six laps, and then spent the rest of the race clawing toward a podium finish. Fowler passed for third on the final lap and then attacked for second, finishing just 0.009 sec. behind rival Adam McGill at the flag.

“I feel like I worked way too hard to finish third today,” he said. “But I’m happy to be on the podium and get some points.” Starting one wave behind in the XC2 Pro Am pack, Richardson and rival Marshal Goings swapped the lead several times during the race, and spent the last few laps virtually locked together. At the checkers it was Yamaha-mounted Richardson with a slender 1.1-sec. margin of victory.
