Yamaha's Chad Wienen Wins Muddy Creek ATV Motocross
Yamaha YFZ 450R Racer Chad Wienen

Blountville, TN (4/7/2014) - Aboard his Wienen Motorsports YFZ450R, Chad Wienen took his second consecutive overall win of the 2014 AMA Pro ATV motocross series in Blountville, Tenn. on Saturday, April 5. Wrapping up the overall with strong 2-1 moto finishes, Wienen also extended his possession of the red points leader’s plate to an amazing 21 events. As well, he now enjoys a six-point advantage in the standings as the nine-round ATV MX national championship picks up steam. However, teammate Thomas Brown didn’t fare quite as well, recovering from a crash in the first moto to finish in sixth place overall with 11-4 results for the day.

Conditions at Muddy Creek Raceway were blue-skies spectacular after rainy weather on Friday, and Wienen set the top qualifying time to earn his choice of gates once again. Nevertheless, it was rival John Natalie who took the holeshot over Wienen in the first of two motos, and the two quickly began to gap the field. Wienen remained within striking distance throughout 11 grueling laps, rarely even a second behind, and ultimately finished 0.577 sec. behind Natalie at the flag. Brown and rival Josh Creamer tangled while fighting for third early in the race, with the resulting chaos dropping both riders back in the field.

In moto two, Josh Upperman got the holeshot with Wienen again following closely. Only this time the Yamaha rider passed for the lead almost immediately, extending the advantage to more than four seconds at the checkers to ensure his second straight overall win. And Brown made a quick launch as well, starting fifth and passing into fourth before the halfway point, and then chasing down and challenging Natalie at the flag. "I had to play it smart today – it's a long season,” Wienen remarked. “Going home with the red plate helps me work harder as we head into a six-week break.”
