                                Cypress, CA (7/2/2012) - Yamaha
YFZ450R-mounted Chad Wienen took his fourth overall
win of the 2012 AMA Pro ATV season with 2-1 moto
finishes at the seventh round of the series in
Millfield, Ohio on Sunday, July 1. Wienen’s
hard-earned victory over rival Joel Hetrick keeps
him on top of the points standings with just three
of 10 rounds in the season now remaining. Meanwhile
Yamaha’s Thomas Brown followed Wienen to
the checkers with 5-4 moto finishes to claim fifth
overall aboard another YFZ450R, his seventh consecutive
top-five finish this year. Brown also stands fifth
in the points as the series travels to the famed
Unadilla motocross track in New Berlin, New York
                                on July 14-15.

Heavy-duty storm conditions in Ohio drenched
the Sunday Creek Raceway facility just prior
to the weekend and cut Saturday’s qualifying
down to a single crucial session. As a result,
the racers were anxious to get underway by the
time Sunday’s race program rolled around.
In the first of two grueling Pro ATV motos,
Wienen charged out of the gate on his YFZ to
take his first holeshot of the season. On the
third of 14 laps though, rival Hetrick found
a way past Wienen and was able to build up a
small gap as the event progressed to the flag.
                                  Meanwhile Yamaha’s Brown, aboard another
YFZ450R, finished two positions off the podium
                                  in fifth.
Wienen knew that capturing moto two would secure
him the overall win – no matter where
Hetrick finished. And he did just that, leaping
his Yamaha ahead of the pack to grab his second
holeshot of the day, as his key rival was mired
in mid-pack. While Hetrick fought his way through
the field, Wienen initially had his hands full
defending the lead from another rival, Josh
                                  Upperman.

But Wienen would not be denied the win, and
he successfully answered all attacks from Upperman
before eventually finishing nearly 2.2 seconds
ahead of a surging Hetrick at the flag. Moto
two was also better for Brown, as he grabbed
fourth place from rival John Natalie in mid-race,
eventually finishing just 4.8 seconds off the
podium. “Chad and his YFZ450R had another
                                  dominating performance today,” said Yamaha
ATV racing coordinator Donnie Luce. “It
appears he and his YFZ are both working towards
                                  the same championship goal!”
