Yamaha's
Dustin Nelson won his fifth QuadX Championship
at Speed World aboard his Yamaha YFZ450R
ATV |
Cypress, CA (9/12/2011) -
The September 10-11 weekend was a huge one for
Yamaha YFZ450 ATV racers as Dustin Nelson clinched
the 2011 Yamaha Quad-X championship in Arizona,
Walker Fowler earned his ninth consecutive GNCC
XC2 Pro Am victory of the year (and the overall
win) at Unadilla in New York, and Traci Cecco
also posted a fine second in the GNCC Women’s
division.
Nelson scored a perfect pair of moto wins to
wrap up the Yamaha Quad-X title – a record
fifth for Dustin in the series – under
the lights on Saturday night at Speedworld MX
Park. He rocketed his YFZ450R to the holeshot
in both motos and then led every lap over rival
Beau Baron, his main competition this year,
building a seven-second gap at the flag in each
race.
Meanwhile young teammate Josh Row brought his
own YFZ home fourth in both motos. “I
can’t say enough about Yamaha reliability,”
Nelson noted. “We have ridden at such
a high level all year, and we have not had any
mechanical issues. The engine package is incredible
– we are busting holeshots and ripping
everywhere. In fact, we have what I think is
the best total package out there.”
