Cypress, CA (8/11/2008)
- Aboard his Yamaha Factory Racing YFZ450, 18-year-old
Thomas Brown won the biggest title of his racing
career during the final round of the 2008 ATVA/AMA
National MX Championship series at Loretta Lynn's
Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. on Sunday, Aug.
10. And winning the Pro Am Production crown could
not have been any more satisfying for the young
Texan, because he also posted 1-1 finishes in
the twin motos to earn his second overall victory
of the year.

Racing conditions proved nearly perfect with a
dry track, warm weather and a pack full of hungry
Pro Am riders ready to dominate the last event
of the season. In the first moto, Brown launched
his Yamaha into the first turn in second position
behind Travis Moore, and then followed Moore for
four laps while searching for a way past. He found
the opportunity he wanted two laps from the checkered
flag, setting his rival up around one sweeping
turn and then diving inside him on the next to
take the lead - and the victory.

Brown Celebrating
his Pro-Am ATVA MX Championship

Although Brown didn't start the second moto quite
as well (he got to the first turn only in fifth),
he charged to the front much quicker this time,
passing early leader Cody Grant on the second
of eight laps. From there on Brown controlled
the pace while roosting to the moto win, the overall
win and the championship. "I've been riding
the same bike all year," he praised of his
YFZ450. "Through mud, heat and dust, it has
never failed me." Yamaha off-road coordinator
Donnie Luce added, "Thomas worked and trained
the hardest of anyone this season and it's nice
to see him celebrate this championship - which
I think will be the first of many to come."
